Time for a Kickstarter

Tidal Press is at that phase of growth where we could use a little help. So, after supporting several other projects over the years, I created a Kickstarter campaign. I hope you will be able to support me. It is a great way to pre-order books or order current books with extra bells and whistles. Here is the script from the video:

"I’m Laura Jones and I am the creator of Tidal Press. I am asking for your help to publish three beautifully written and captivating books by three terrific authors in the next 12 months.
I love books that both elevate and entertain. Honest books that are written in simple but lyrical prose. Books that explore the life of the underdog, the outsider, the seeker. Books about misfits who may or may not win in the end. Books that ask the big questions, and that  make you feel less alone. Books that make you feel, period. And think. And sometimes, that are funny. Because without a little humor, the big questions can crush us.
In the end, I believe good stories – whether they are short or long, true or made-up, drawn with words or pictures – simply make us better people. So to make these kinds of books, two years ago, I created Tidal Press,  a one-woman story-obsessed micro-publishing company. I have edited, designed and published six books so far.
Writers and readers started to find me. Now I have three more amazing manuscripts – one novel, one biography and one memoir - that I selected from hundreds of submissions I received and read over the past year. I picked them because when I started reading, I couldn’t put them down.
They are a diverse group: To the Last of a Good Thing, is a philosophical post-apocalyptic road trip buddy novel  about hope, love and the end  by first time novelist Evan Senie. Pick Nick is a political biography of the Congressman Nick Galifianakis who served in the 1960s by historian John Semonche, who is also my dad [flash photo of Dad and photo of dad holding me as a baby]. A Pack of Lies is a hysterically funny memoir with a heart and a really unique point of view by Kristen Brakeman. I am working on some great cover ideas for this one.
I am trying to raise $9,000 –  $3,000 per book – to design and publish the best quality books I can and get them into wide distribution. There is more information on everything below including a cost breakdown as well as links to excerpts so you can read for yourself. And rewards are over here.
If you are able to support me, you will get an insider’s view of the entire book production and promotion process with regular, exclusive backer updates. You will also be doing more than helping to bring these three books to market. You will be providing a foundation for Tidal Press to grow from. If you like my mission, my idea of good stories, it would mean the world to me to have you all as part of my Kickstarter, part of the story. Thank you."
